Phonogenic Not Just Another Pretty Face

An American singer/songwriter who began singing in the folk clubs of Greenwich Village in the mid 1960's, Melanie parlayed an almost child-like voice into one of the most original voices in pop music and rose to international fame after her performance at the legendary Woodstock festival. Presented here is her rare 1978 album, "Phonogenic" featuring an amazing cast of world class musicians including Hugh McCracken (guitars); Richard Tee (piano, keyboards); Will Lee (bass); Chris Parker (drums); Reubens Bassini (percussion); Randy Brecker (trumpet); Michael Brecker (saxophone); David Sanborn (alto saxophone); Lou Marini (saxophone); Cynthia Jackson (background vocals); Teri Jo Burnet (background vocals); Beverly Owens (background vocals); Linda Smith (background vocals) and Jimmy McLaine (background vocals). All selections newly remastered.
