ABOUT THE ALBUM

The world's most renowned jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli, along with the great gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, invented the idiom we now call "gypsy jazz." Their initial recordings as the Hot Club of France in the mid 1930's are some of the most important recordings in the history of jazz. Although Django died in 1953, Grappelli continued to record great albums on his own until his death in 1997. The classic 1962 album presented here finds Grappelli accompanied by Pierre Cavalli and Leo Petit on guitars, Guy Pedersen on bass and Daniel Humair on drums. All selections newly re-mastered
