Witherspoon Mulligan Webster at the Renaissance

From his first recordings with Jay McShann's band in 1945 to his associations with some of the biggest jazz and blues bands in the US, Jimmy Witherspoon was one of the first blues singers to blur the boundaries between blues and jazz, making blues palatable to a wider audience. This classic performance recorded live in 1960 at the Renaissance Club in Hollywood, California, features jazz greats Gerry Mulligan, Jimmy Rowles and Ben Webster. All selections have been newly re-mastered.
