Breathe In The Water

The critically acclaimed Los Angeles trio, represents the essence of heavy rock 'n' roll. They deliver relentless and powerful live shows with a sound that has been compared to the metallic meanderings of Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age, with the timeless scope of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. While recording the new album, Kyng weren't afraid to go so deep that they reached marrow on Breathe in the Water. It's heavy, both sonically and lyrically, without having to scream in your face to get the point across. The title track 'Breathe in the Water' is a potent jam, both sonically and lyrically. Veliz isn't overtly political in his music but his eyes were opened this past year to the headline-grabbing Syrian refugees trying to make their way to a better place, only to drown in the process. Veliz explained, 'I took a hard look at what surrounds me, rather than just focusing on what's going on in my life.' 'Pristine Warning' is built on a slab of riffs that are heavier than granite. The song explores the notion that we, as people, should be helping one another and how it feels to be rejected after extending an olive branch. Magana sums it up, saying the track 'demonstrates both frustration and aggression.' 'What I'm Made Of /Reckoning Part 2' is high energy, filled with driving guitars, a huge chorus, and features guest guitarist Zach Blair of Rise Against. This album is sure to please Kyng fans while being creatively diverse enough to reach a broader audience. It's a fully actualized piece of art and is the band's most definitive statement to date.
