Verdi: Aida

"Aida" is the face of Giuseppe Verdi's opera composed in 1871 set in Egypt on the occasion of the opening of Suez canal. It features exotic story-telling about the time of the pharaohs, the great kings and slaves. Verdi's opera immediately gained immense fame and is still eagerly played, often in monumental outdoor versions with special decorations. This version is conducted by James Levine, played by the wiedenscy filharmonicy, and performed by, among others Plácido Domingo, Dolor Zajick and James Morris.
