Songs In A Mellow Mood

'Songs In A Mellow Mood' is yet another outstanding album from "The First Lady Of Song", Miss Ella Fitzgerald, in the ideal and intimate company of pianist Ellis Larkins. Ella was at the height of her vocal powers in the early fifties and you can hear every nuance in this 1954 recording. Just Ella and Ellis. Ella sings passionately and gives every composition a royal treatment. From "I'm Glad There Is You" to "Makin' Whoopie", Cole Porter's "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" to the album's end with a strong performance of "Nice Work If You Can Get It." Overall, 'Songs In A Mellow Mood' is Ella, that unforgettable songbird, singing her heart out in a mellow treatment of timeless ballads.
