ABOUT THE ALBUM
When Oscar was first recorded in his native Canada in the '40s, the young pianist was still playing swing and boogie-woogie. In the '50s, he formed his famous trio with Herb Ellis and Ray Brown and his blinding virtuosity and absorption of bop made him a major jazz star. These 146 tracks take you all through those years, from 1945-58: How About You?; Love You Madly; Blues in the Night; Flamingo; Let's Fall in Love; That Old Black Magic; As Long As I Live; Stormy Weather; Soft Sands; Song to the Stars; I Can't Get Started; Pick Yourself Up; a Fine Romance; the Song Is You; Night and Day; I Love Paris; Love for Sale; Jive at Five; Cotton Tail; Detour Ahead; Bewitched; Bronx Blues; Tour's End; What's New; Moon Song; Bluesology; Runnin' Wild; Oscar's Boogie, and more!
