ABOUT THE ALBUM
Digitally re-mastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Soul/R&B/Funk legend. Through the Gospel-impassioned fury of his vocals and the complex polyrhythms of his beats, James Brown became the single most important figure in the transformation of Rhythm & Blues into Soul music. This quintessential collector's edition includes James Brown & the Famous Flames' seminal albums for the King label; consisting of their debut LP Please, Please, Please (1959) and their third album Think! (1960). These two masterpieces helped define the primal nature of Soul. They offer a solid introduction into this man's special brand of musical feeling, his own passionate style, intense delivery and R&B innovation. In addition, we have included the bonus tracks, consisting of hard to find sides from the same period. The foot-tapping rhythms, spine-tingling styling's and sentimental mood renderings so typical of his early performances can all be heard here. This is the material upon which James Brown's kingdom was built. Hoo Doo Records.
