Seiji Ozawa was just at the start of his nearly thirty-year tenure as Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1973 when DeutscheGrammophon captured the young conductor's fresh take on Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, op. 14, in multi-channel sound. New developments in audio playback technology (specifically the multi-channel SACD) since then now allow for hearing this spectacularlyorchestrated work as all involved in it's recording conceived it to be heard thanks to Pentatone's labor of love in re-mastering and re-releasing thisrecording to market.
