You Can't Always Be Liked

Baltimore’s premier indie-pop trio Expert Alterations have one eyebrow arched as they survey the surrounding pop landscape -- they know they can do better. Strip it down, keep it lean, sweat off the fat. Despite their propensity for reducing the elements of pop to its essential core, Expert Alterations are minimal, but not skeletal -- their bones are strong and their songs linger long after the music is over. October 30th will see the release of their debut album You Can't Always Be Liked on Kanine Records. “Expert Atlerations make classic, C-86 style indiepop with scratchy, jangly guitars, lead-like basslines and a sleepy vocal style” BROOKLYN VEGAN “Expert Alterations are from Baltimore but listening to “A Bell”, a track taken from their debut cassette, you could be mistaken for thinking that the trio hailed from Dunedin, Christchurch or Liverpool rather than Charm City.” NOISEY Their debut EP is steeped in the jingliest, scrappiest indie pop, the kind that started off in the early ‘80s in New Zealand, bloomed in the mid- ‘80s in the U.K., and really never went away.” “The beginning steps from a band with some serious potential for better things in the future” ALL MUSIC “Though the trio hails from Baltimore, their muted brand of pop would easilty fit alongside UK-based indie projects of the mid-to-late ‘80s such as the Vaselines or the Wedding Present.” STEREOGUM
