Just Another Pretty Face (1960s Girl Goodies Lost)

Teensville Records returns with another irresistible journey into the forgotten corners of 1960s girl-pop. Just Another Pretty Face brings together 36 rare and highly sought-after recordings from 1963-1967, celebrating the solo singers, girl groups and studio hopefuls who created some of the decade's most exciting-and unjustly overlooked-teen-pop treasures. Across more than 80 minutes of music, the collection moves effortlessly between dramatic Wall of Sound productions, infectious girl-group dancers, atmospheric heartbreak ballads, British beat-pop, sophisticated Brill Building creations and shimmering West Coast soft pop. Featured artists include The Baby Dolls, Chi Chi, Ginny Satin, Debbie Stanley, Lorraine Gray, The Witches, Linda Ball, Sunny Gale, The Penny Sisters, Mandi Martin and many more. Behind the scenes are some of the era's most celebrated writers, arrangers and producers, including Van McCoy, Ashford & Simpson, Tony Asher, Roger Nichols, Chip Taylor, Artie Butler, David Gates, Alan Lorber and members of the legendary Wrecking Crew. Many of these recordings originally appeared on scarce independent singles, obscure B-sides or extremely limited releases, making this lovingly assembled collection an essential discovery for fans of 1960s girl groups, teen pop and rare vintage recordings. Carefully mastered from the best available sources and accompanied by extensively researched liner notes detailing the remarkable stories behind the artists and recordings, Just Another Pretty Face once again demonstrates Teensville's dedication to rescuing wonderful music from obscurity.
