In the Grand Scheme of Things

New York/Vancouver saxophonistâ?Ts new Canadian quartet, Variety Hour (JP Carter, trumpet & electronics, Chris Gestrin, Fender Rhodes & Moog Micromoog, Dylan van der Schyff, drums) creates expansive, atmospheric, cinematic jazz. Blakeâ?Ts compositions are jumping off points for solos and group invention that develop organically, balancing depth and playfulness, in-the-pocket and outside feels. The Otis Redding cover â?oTreat Her Right' displays the tenoristâ?Ts art at it's most tender. Gestrinâ?Ts brilliant work on Moog bass and Rhodes buoys up the music in an original way. Beautifully detailed audiophile sound.
