ABOUT THE ALBUM

The Weather Station returns with the follow up to 2021's Album of the Year, Ignorance, with her new album "Humanhood" out 1/17/24. Ignorance was #1 AOTY at The New Yorker, UNCUT, The Globe and Mail, The Observer and top 10 at New York Times, The Guardian, PItchfork, PASTE, Exclaim, Rolling Stone Germany, Magnet, The Quietus, Sunday Times, Stereogum, and many more. " On Ignorance, the Weather Station’s dazzling fifth album, Lindeman arrives.” - Pitchfork “Songs sometimes come with multiple strands entwined. I tend to think I need to find a way to pull them apart, but often I’m wrong. Isn’t it all the same feeling? To walk down the street in a heatwave, bombarded by sales pitches, pithy slogans - to be in relationship where coercion is wrapped in the language of love - to navigate through a politics awash in wave after wave of misinformation. It all felt bound up - what if a lie is more powerful precisely because it is not true? What if desire is the currency when trust falls apart; when there’s nothing more nourishing to rely on? How to make sense of the cognitive dissonance of luxury and consumption amid a climate disaster? I wrote at a moment of feeling confused, upside down, at that moment when even desire falls away, and dissociation cuts you loose from a story that while wrong, still held things together. I imagined the song moving like the street does; a strong forward motion, and then finally falling away at the end, and the band did just that.”
