Shake Me To Wake Me

In 1985, contemporary Christian rock was undergoing a massive sonic revolution. Production was getting massive, guitars were getting heavier, and the hooks were getting bigger. Standing right at the vanguard of that movement was Steve Camp. His landmark album, Shake Me to Wake Me, wasn't just a musical triumph-it was a bold, confrontational, prophetic call to action that shook the CCM landscape. Steve Camp, a multi-Grammy and Dove Award-nominated artist with over a million albums sold and 21 number-one singles to his credit, hit his definitive musical stride in the mid-1980s. Shake Me to Wake Me has been recognized by historians and critics as a vital cornerstone of the era, earning a coveted spot on the CCM's 500 Best Albums Of All Time retrospective list. Reviewers and fans alike have long praised the album for breaking the barriers of Christian radio at the time. While critics noted that the massive, keyboard-driven pop-rock and searing guitar solos pushed the sonic edges of mainstream formats, it was Camp's urgent, confrontational lyrics that truly set the record apart. Retrospective reviews highlight tracks like ""Stranger to Holiness"" (which peaked at #5 on the CCM charts) as ""hauntingly anointed"" and deeply convicting. The album also features ""Lazy Jane"" and his celebrated, powerful cover of Keith Green's ""Asleep in the Light."" Recorded at some of the most legendary studios of the era-including Sunset Sound and Bill Schnee Studios in Los Angeles-Shake Me to Wake Me features a powerhouse lineup of studio musicians, including guitarists Dann Huff and Michael Landau, and keyboardist Alan Pasqua. Co-produced by Camp alongside Rob Frazier (Petra) and John Rosasco, the album seamlessly moves between hard-hitting, guitar-driven rock and polished West Coast AOR pop, also featuring the soaring duet ""Surrender Your Heart"" with Susanne Norman. This definitive reissue has received the signature, top-tier Girder Treatment from top to bottom. The audio has been carefully remastered to maximize clarity, warmth, and punch, making those driving rhythms and soaring vocals hit harder than ever. It features a premium, fully loaded 12-page insert booklet complete with full lyrics, archival photos, and clean layouts.
