Two Ghosts

"One of 2007's best local albums" -The Oregonian (12/28/07) "Imagine Beck feeling nostalgic for his Queen albums, and you're on the right track in a quest to pin down the idiosyncratic appeal of Two Ghosts. BEDM singer/songwriter Jon Ragel adorns his indie-boy anxieties with turntable twists and majestic flourishes-backing vocal choruses, stately strings-resulting in 15 songs that consistently engage and challenge the eardrums. Aside from a knack for hooks and splashes of vivid electronic color, Ragel has a dramatic voice that covers a lot of ground, from sweet soul man to beleaguered bohemian to near operatic peaks of impassioned pop. Highly recommended." -John Chandler, Portland Monthly best of the city '07 (8/07) 'Lush and orchestral, strings and cymbals populate many of the open spaces on the album. Powerful yet concave, Boy Eats Drum Machine is able to massage the senses in all directions. After rising to the crescendo, and falling to level ground, I am tempted to start the ride all over again.' - Robert Karmin, Puremusic 'Interlaced with saxophone, organ, violin, cello, flute, accordion, and weightless female vocals courtesy of Laura Gibson, Two Ghosts is a treasure chest of instrumentation, arranged masterfully around a powerful story arch of emotions that rise, climax, and fall like last night's dream you still can't shake.' - Jenny Tatone, Portland Mercury.
