Red And Blue (Mod)

Rocshire Records: sounds of the early-80s underground and indie cult classics for fans of West Coast punk, power pop, new wave and synth music presents a hard rock gem steeped in 1980s sheen presents a polished slice of early-'80s synth-pop that sits comfortably between European new wave cool and American radio charm. Built on programmed rhythms, sleek keyboards, and controlled melodic hooks, it reflects a period of growing fascination with technology, image, and emotional restraint. Andy Lunn's production is clean and uncluttered, favoring atmosphere and groove over excess. The vocals, recorded at Hotline Studios, are understated and detached, giving the songs a careful balance of pop accessibility and a lingering sense of distance. More style than spectacle, and more late-night drive than big-chorus anthems, this album arrived at a crowded moment and quickly slipped from view. In hindsight, it stands as a record deserving of a second look - a concise and coherent statement from the new wave era, stylish, restrained, and firmly rooted in it's time.
