Baby I Love You (Mod)

Alton Ellis - Baby I Love You: The Collection. Here's where soul meets the sunlit sway of Kingston: Ellis delivers emotion with elegance. Each track a study in feel and phrasing; warm and honest. There are voices that rise to meet a genre, and then there are voices that create one. Alton Ellis belongs to the latter. With a sound that bridges Kingston's humid breezes and Harlem's gospel steeples, Ellis brought to rocksteady what Nat King Cole brought to jazz vocals-grace, restraint and taste. Baby I Love You: The Collection is a quietly luminous document, a portrait of a man who refused to stop singing love songs even in the face of changing cultures.
