ABOUT THE ALBUM
Indie Exclusive - Experience Dizzy Gillespie's electrifying big band orchestra live from Chester, PA, in June 1957. Hindsight Records has meticulously transferred these performances from Wally Heider's analog reels to ensure superior audio quality. Gillespie, a pivotal figure in bebop's evolution from the mid-1940s, had firmly established himself as a jazz giant by 1957, leading his dynamic ensemble with authority. This live recording, captured less than a month before their memorable Newport Jazz Festival appearance, highlights Gillespie's band in peak form at Club Bel-Aire in Chester, Pennsylvania.
