ABOUT THE ALBUM
With Carl Perkins and Leroy Vinnegar among those in attendance, Dexter Gordon cut these sides for Dootone in 1955 when he came out from an 18 month stretch for narcotics in Chino prison. This is the first statement of the essential hard bop sound of his remarkable Blue Note period 10 years later.
