Widely cited as THE best Cuban trumpet player, Sandoval (who has played alongside jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin and others) is inspired as much by ballads and boleros as by Danzons and sons, and his allegiance to his country's vibrant music scene has allowed him to fuse the best aspects of Cuban musical tradition with jazz. More than a just a set of Arturo's most representative songs, this collection is a testimony to his creativity and to the virtuosity of his famous improvisational technique.
