Renegade Psalms

LP version. Red vinyl. The older brother of Nicky Wire from the Manic Street Preachers, Patrick Jones is a brilliant poet whose hypnotic Welsh lilt empowers his compassionate and very human lyrics full of community and love in these Brexit times with a lone political voice. The 21st Century Dylan Thomas has recorded this album with the Membranes' John Robb who provides the haunting musical pieces, scoring powerful classical strings backings full of the same drama and landscapes as the words. Renegade Psalms, 18 months in the making. The personal is the political. The political has become personal. Raging words and brooding beats. A sonic document of our times. Jones takes aim at borders, the bedroom tax, the monarchy, Tory dismantling of the welfare state, greed, and austerity whilst celebrating the resilience of the human spirit, love, the power of literature and the growing tide of protest as Robb's atmospheric soundscapes fill the grooves with a sense of emotional urgency."Then the world will be for the common people, and the sounds of happiness will reach the deepest springs. Ah! Come! People of every land, how can you not be roused." -The Communist Manifesto, 1848. "a cunning concoction of laissez-faire and big brother a meticulous maledicta that sets one against another as Starbucks and Amazon find new ways to fall beneath the radar the most vulnerable, the sick, the poor are targeted by IDS, the moral crusader" -from "Demonise or Die" (for Stephanie Bottrill).
