California Cooking!

After digesting these 10 courses of appetizing, spicy, immaculately prepared and served "California Cooking" it will be amazing if you do not feel replete. Every track here is interesting and there's an overall optimistic and toe taping feel about the entire session. Relaxed, swinging and unpretentious. Not too many sax players have studied the works of Hank Mobley, Zoot Sims and George Coleman. The light, swinging and thoughtful approaches of these very different stylists are here celebrated by Rickey, who seems at home with any rhythms-dig his ease with the bossa nova beat on Jake's Place. Zoot Sims shared this ability to adapt to any rhythmic context and swing like hell in any situation.
