Lord, Lord Am I Ever Gonna Know?

Lucky played with everyone form Basie to Miles and is revealed here at the zenith of his musical career, both as a tenor player and on soprano saxophone. He plays soprano on four tracks with his unique tone and delivery in strong contrast to today's querulous vibrato style. These are saxophone performances of the highest order, and the group selected by Lucky for the recording represents the cream of the '60s Paris jazz scene - Kenny Clarke, Martial, and Peter Trunk. And they respond accordingly. This remarkable album is a segment of jazz history - the legendary 'lost session' recorded in Paris in 1960 by one of the greatest and most important saxophonists in the history of jazz.
