In the House of Blood & Gold

The Big Blue Cosmic is a project created by Daniel Orcutt with the help of some musical friends in 2011. The début CD "In the House of Blood and Gold" features 14 original compositions. Many of the songs are performed on custom instruments: a guitar-harp (The Garp) and a electric cello (The Guit-Cello). These instruments were designed and constructed by the artist. The music could best be classified as Alt-Folk-World Music. With the accompaniment of upright bass, and numerous old world percussion instruments, these works are richly texture while at the same time boiled down to essential elements. They are both other-worldly and visceral at the same time. Daniel Orcutt is known as the long time guitarist and band leader with The Nick Strange Band, a power trio from Michigan, but now reveals a new and expansive musical landscape for people to experience.
