ABOUT THE ALBUM

Here Jasmine Records have another tribute to the great Texas blues guitarists this time focusing on Pee Wee Crayton. As with many Texas blues guitarists he was influenced by T-Bone Walker. However unlike many other T-Bone followers he managed to imbue his style with considerably more original elements which gave him an enviable chart run in the late 1940s. Includes his singles recorded for Gru V Tone, Modern, Recorded in Hollywood, Imperial and VeeJay between 1947 & 1957. This set showcases some of the best examples of his work such as his #1 hit "Blues After Hours" plus "Texas Hop" "I Love You So" and many more. Considering how influential his guitar techniques became Pee Wee Crayton is a generally underappreciated talent. In recent years his importance has certainly been reappraised and here are 55 examples of his exemplary art.
