On Youngblood, Australia’s 5 Seconds of Summer (once hailed as the "biggest new rock act in the world" by Rolling Stone) has expanded its musical parameters to thrilling results by abandoning the mall punk cheese of its past and embracing pulsating RnB and blue-eyed soul without sacrificing their knack for big hooks. Pop punk rarely matures this gracefully, as the title cut perfectly demonstrates.
