Street Songs

Street Songs stands tall as one of the definitive R&B/Funk albums of the 1980s. A triple-platinum hit, All Music.com calls it 'defiant, in-your-face funk. This was not only [Rick James'] best-selling album ever, it was also his best, period, and certainly the most exciting album released in 1981. James simply follows what's in his gut and lets it rip.' Street Songs was a phenomenon on the charts when first released, staying at No. 1 on the R&B chart for five months, while peaking at No. 3 on the Pop chart. Even today, the album's signature hits, 'Super Freak' and 'Give It To Me Baby,' are heard everywhere and 'Fire And Desire,' a towering duet with protégé Teena Marie, broke out of the album as an instant classic slow jam. Now for the first time since the 1980's, Street Songs is available on vinyl!
