Even today, long after his tragic and untimely death, Marvin Gaye stands out as one of the most prolific artists that ever graced the hallowed halls of Motown. Often imitated but never duplicated, Gaye has influenced hundreds or more of aspiring and even professional singers. He had a style and sound that was truly all his own. Though he definitely liked to groove, it was his way with a sensuous lyricfound in his own moody writing or in an American pop standard that profoundly and uniquely made him one of the all-around best crooners. A great sampling of that warmth and sincerity can be heard in these classic renditions.
