Distort Yourself -

Four years since the release of Bush's last record, former frontman Gavin Rosedale is once again stepping into the limelight with his new band, Institute. Their debut album 'Distort Yourself' will be released September 19th. While Rosedale has been quoted as saying that Bush are "on ice", he has avoided any temptation to go down the solo path and stayed true to his rock roots. The four piece is fronted by Rosedale and is completed by guitarist Chris Traynor (Bush, Helmet), bassist Cache Tolman (Rival Schools) and drummer Charlie Walker (Split Lip, Chamberlain). Musically, "Distort Yourself" sees Rosedale venturing into new territory and Institute announce their arrival with their first single "Bullet-Proof Skin", which features a stop/start guitar riff behind Rosedale's distinctive gravel-coated vocals. He further demonstrates his ability to break the Bush writing mould with tracks like 'Boombox', and 'Information Age' shows Helmet's influence, through producer Page Hamilton.
