ABOUT THE ALBUM
The definitive tribute to power pop legends Raspberries, Play On: A Raspberries Tribute features 37 artists across two discs celebrating the band who perfected melodic rock. From Rick Springfield's electrifying take on "Go All The Way" to Lou Gramm's powerhouse "Tonight," Vicki Peterson and Debbi Peterson (The Bangles) spirited "I Wanna Be With You" to John Waite's anthemic delivery of "I Don't Know What I Want," The Lemon Twigs' brilliant "Let's Pretend" to Marshall Crenshaw's rootsy "Should I Wait," this collection showcases why John Lennon praised the band and Bruce Springsteen cited them as influences. With original drummer Jim Bonfanti on four tracks and Eric Carmen supplying the iconic count-in on "Tonight," producers Ken Sharp and Fernando Perdomo have assembled chart-toppers, indie favorites, and rising stars-all honoring the band that proved Beatles-inspired melodies plus driving rock could create pop perfection. Deluxe 6-panel digipak includes 20-page booklet with liner notes by Howie Edelson.
