Introspect

Out of print in the U.S. Joe South's debut LP Introspect is one of those rare albums which reflect a new approach. It took rock music into new places with it's blend of country and soul. At the time, in 1968, Introspect was deleted almost too quickly for most listeners to find it, much less hear it. His lyrics demonstrate that at heart Joe was a spiritual man, a seeker of truth and integrity. He was not afraid to sing against the ignorance of racism. Knowing that Johnny Cash and Brian Wilson wrote some of their gems inspired by Joe South's hit singles "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" and "Games People Play", you realize that this is an exceptional record.
