Nobody's Coming To Save You

When Dublin’s Gurriers released their 2024 debut album Come And See, they cemented their status as a visceral, unignorable new voice in the thriving Irish punk scene, bringing their lyrical chops and socially exploratory outlook to the fore. Since then, they’ve built a steadily rising reputation for bone-rattling, mosh-ready live shows. The quintet’s second album, Nobody’s Coming To Save You, could easily be subtitled “harder, better, faster, stronger.” Recorded at Donegal’s Attica Studios and Holy Mountain Studios in London with producers Mark Bowen (Idles) and Loren Humphrey (Geese, Cameron Winter), alongside engineer Chris Fullard (Idles, Sunn O)))), it finds Gurriers taking the musical chemistry and sharp, interrogative worldview that defined them and pushing it to the next level. From rattling tension to cacophonous, cathartic release, Nobody’s Coming To Save You captures the spirit of the sweaty basement venue and scales it up to stadium size. It’s not just loud, but dynamic, blending industrial abrasion, gnarly hardcore, grunge swagger, and insatiable dance-punk hedonism. If the band’s aim was to make a record that “slaps you in the face,” consider yourself hit. With Nobody’s Coming To Save You, Gurriers have set their ambitions sky-high and come out swinging.
