Glosas, diminutions, passaggi': so many terms to describe the garlands of ornamentation that keyboard musicians added to the polyphonic vocal works of their peers as they transformed them into true keyboard pieces between the 16th century and the dawn of the 17th. This album offers an extensive array of these intabulations of vocal works and shows their pan-European scope by illustrating how keyboard players appropriated the music of madrigalists from distant courts.
