ABOUT THE ALBUM
Stipe, Buck & co. continued their march from college-rock acclaim to pop stardom with this 1985 LP. Not only did it reach #28 (thanks in large part to the groovy anthem Can't Get There from Here ), but it saw R.E.M. dig deep into the myths and music of American folk. Pick it up on vinyl to get the complete 1985 album remastered; opt for the 2-CD edition to hear the Athens demos Driver 8; Kohoutek; Maps and Legends; Green Grow the Rushes , and all the rest of the album's songs plus Throw Those Trolls Away , a song that's never been released in any form!
