Palace Of A Thousand Sounds

U.S. cinematic outfit Whatitdo Archive Group returns with their adventurous sophomore album, "Palace Of A Thousand Sounds, " set for release on May 5, 2023. Following the success of their critically acclaimed debut, "The Black Stone Affair, " this new project delves into the realms of mid-century exotica and library music, exploring influences from Tropicalia to Near Eastern tonalities. The band, led by composer Alexander Korostinsky, recorded the album in marathon sessions at his studio in Reno, Nevada, using a blend of vintage analog equipment and modern recording techniques. "Palace Of A Thousand Sounds" aims to breathe new life into the mid-century soundscape, drawing inspiration from iconic figures like Martin Denny and Les Baxter. With a 17-piece orchestra directed by award-winning composer Louis King, the album showcases a lush instrumental mix featuring harp, vibraphone, and Turkish baglama saz, all anchored by a heavy funk undercurrent. Whatitdo Archive Group challenges genre conventions while honoring the past, creating a complex and immersive listening experience that invites multiple listens. As listeners navigate the album's sonic palace, they embark on an aural journey filled with surprises and a blend of real and imagined worlds. With a growing cult following since their inception in 2009, the group promises an exotic adventure with this exciting release.
