Solo (Pisa) 1982

(AVAILABLE NOW) a sensational find! Anthony Braxton performs seven pieces of his own and four standards finishing with John Coltrane's Giant Steps. After that something extraordinary happens with the audience. As Steve Day writes in his notes, "they literally become the music, setting up a seven minute coda of appreciative stomping, whistling, howling harmony vocals, improvised rhythms tracks, and general mayhem, shaking down the melody and the intervals, creating an additional bonus track". An absolute must for music fans of any style or genre.
