ABOUT THE ALBUM
Saxophonist/trumpeter/valve trombonist Sam Donahue cut his teeth playing with Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Harry James before leading Artie Shaw's Navy Band and the Billy May Orchestra. Here, he parlays all of that experience into performances of comparable quality with his own orchestra! Bolstered by the vocal stylings of Ernie Bernhardt, Debbie Brown and Dorothy Dunn plus Sam's own outstanding solos, these 22 tracks from 1957 and 1958 percolate with big band energy! Montpellier.
