Waltzing and Marching

An original idea to produce a CD of the Andre Kostelanetz Orchestra playing first some of the great waltz tunes by composers such as Franz Lehar, Emmrich Kalman, Oscar Strauss and Johan Strauss II and then juxtapose them with a selection of the Great Marches by the likes of John Phillip Sousa, George and Ira Gershwin. The problem of getting the feeling of a parade onto a disc was a challenge that fascinated maestro Kostelanetz. Fortunately recording techniques in the studio and hi-fi systems at home offered a wonderfully ingenious solution, he said. He added that parade music was music in motion - it was the only type of music that was supposed to move. Tracks include: "Sari" Waltz; Vienna City of My Dreams; Gold And Silver Waltz; Two Heart in Three Quarter Time; Waltz Dream; "Gypsy Baron" Waltz; "Zigeunerliebe" Gypsy Love Waltz.
