At the Supper Club

ABOUT THE ALBUM

This is the latest in our series of Armed Forces Radio recordings of "At the Supper Club". The previous issues being of Jo Stafford and Perry Como. This time it is the inimitable Peggy Lee who is centre stage, accompanied by guests Frankie Lane, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Helen Carroll And the Satisfiers are also on hand as they provided the vocal accompaniment for the series. Tom Reddy was the vocalist with the Lloyd Shaffer Orchestra, the main featured orchestra in the series of shows, although half way through this CD Dave Barbour's Orchestra takes over. Dave was Peggy's husband and together they wrote a number of the songs that can be heard here. Jo Stafford and the Starlighters can be heard on the opening and closing themes. The whole generous and entertaining package is held together by master of ceremonies Martin Block. Recorded 1946-1949.
