ABOUT THE ALBUM
(2-CD set) Dick Haymes was one of the great, big band singers of the swing era. His smooth, easy style epitomizes the period and it is difficult on hearing his voice not to reflect on what must now seem an easy going time when the world seemed more innocent and less problematical. This great two for the price of one CD covers the first nine years of his solo career from 1943 to 1952. This is when his golden, impeccable baritone voice (trained by his Irish mother who was an operetta singer) was young, when every night was a grand night for singing. Tracks include: You'll Never Know; It Can't Be Wrong; How Blue the Night; Let the Rest of the World Go By; I Wish I Knew; They Didn't Believe Me; Love letters; Laura; Isn't It Kind of Fun; It Might As Well Be Spring; That's for Me and more.
