ABOUT THE ALBUM
His Master's Voice handled the release of RCA records in Britain. In the note for the CD "Hits Of Wartime Britain" we discussed the strange decisions of the Artists and Repertoire manager at HMV regarding the release of records by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. The policy for issuing Beneke-Miller records was even stranger! The Beneke-Miller Orchestra had seventeen entries into the American popular music charts between 1946 and 1950. HMV only released five of them! True, HMV issued The Whiffenpoof Song, Cynthia's In Love, A Gal In Calico, Meadowlands and the blockbuster success, St. Louis Blues March. However, the first twelve tracks on this CD are proof of the hits which HMV failed to release. These dozen tracks represent 70% of the hits in the Beneke-Miller library.
