ABOUT THE ALBUM

In his invaluable book, "Pop Hits 1940-1954" (Record Research Inc. 1994), Joel Whitburn states that the year of Perry Como's peak of popularity was 1949. On this CD we have included Perry Como's recordings from 1940 until 1957, so that the listener can hear how he maintained his musical momentum. His biggest success came with the song "Hoop Dee Doo" which spent seventeen weeks in the charts two of them at number one. Backing Perry on some tracks are the then popular Fontane Sisters, Eddie Fisher, The Ted Weems Orchestra, The Satisfiers and The Ray Charles Singers.
