Play The Game / Soul Sauce

A project by Chris Bangs-credited with coining the term "acid jazz"-and Mick Talbot, a founding member of The Style Council: Bangs & Talbot. Following the widespread acclaim for their 2022 debut Back To Business and a sold-out 7-inch single, they now return after approximately three and a half years with a new single cut from their second album, Smokin' Aces.Known for his work with Paul Weller and others, Bangs joins forces with Talbot, one of the UK's most celebrated keyboardists. The duo spent two years crafting this latest release, which seamlessly traverses soul, jazz, and funk, delivering a sound that is both retro and contemporary. This 7-inch distills the album's essence into two carefully selected tracks, offering a compact yet powerful listening experience. Featuring a stellar lineup of musicians from around the world, the record brims with rich grooves, refined arrangements, and an undeniable, floor-ready energy. A must-hear release that embodies acid jazz in it's current, evolving form.
