For over 300 years, the sacred vocal works of Andreas Hammerschmidt have lain dormant and nearly untouched in libraries. Now the Knabenchor Hannover (Hanover Boys' Choir) brings these neglected works into glorious daylight once again. 15 motets and sacred concertos by Hammerschmidt were re-edited for the project and overseen by specialists in historically informed interpretation and performance of early music. Performed by the Knabenchor, Himlische Cantorey and Johann Rosenmuller Ensemble under the baton of Jorg Breiding, this disc is a long-awaited revelation of an esteemed composer.
