Women in (E)Motion Festival

From the gospel tradition to the blues legacy of Bessie Smith to contemporary jazz forms, pianist Amina Claudine Myers naturally unites that which has characterized her personal career. The enormous intensity and density with which her trio performs on this live recording is the result of many years of cooperation between Amina, drummer Reggie Nicholson and electric bassist Jerome Harris. They have the necessary flexibility to accompany Amina's often hymnal expressiveness on both voice and piano.
