ABOUT THE ALBUM

This CD contains the fine Savoy coupling and the Specialty recordings which were closely modeled on the then-hugely successful Guitar Slim. Perhaps helped into the charts by the ambiguous (if not completely untrue) credit "featuring Fats on piano," "Those Lonely, Lonely Nights" was the first of his Ace releases, but like all his previous recordings, this session includes the great Huey "Piano" Smith and not Mr. Domino, as implied. On the strength of the huge success of his debut Ace release, Earl King toured the South with Edgar Blanchard's Gondoliers, cutting a session with that band in Houston late in the year, resulting in a follow up single with the fine "Little Girl".
