ABOUT THE ALBUM
This chronological CD includes all three of Willie Mabon's Billboard R&B hits, among them his career piece "I Don't Know", which he adapted from an old 1930s Clarence Lofton song. The song's renewed success in 1952-53 resulted in a frenzy to cover the song by white (Tennessee Ernie and Buddy Morrow) as well as black singers, and spawned a backlash of feisty female answer songs by Linda Hayes and Annisteen Allen.
