Resurrection

Originally released in 1994, Common's critically acclaimed second studio album, Resurrection, is a foundational mid-90s hip-hop classic that showcases the artist's intricate wordplay and sharp storytelling over jazzy, soulful production. The album is anchored by it's legendary lead single, ""I Used to Love H.E.R.,"" a brilliant metaphorical critique tracking the commercialization and shifting landscape of hip-hop culture. It also features the energetic title track, ""Resurrection,"" alongside standout cuts like ""Breaker 1/9,"" which cemented Common's status as a premier lyricist of the underground rap scene.
