ABOUT THE ALBUM
Tasmin Little celebrated the 150th anniversary of Elgar's birth with performances of his Violin Concerto in Australia. Her much-anticipated recording of the work is released in November, 100 years after the work's first performance. What makes this recording special is Little's inclusion of the cadenza used in the work's first recording (1916), which includes harps. Both the standard and the 1916 versions are included - an illuminating addition to the Elgar discography. 'I have waited a long time to record the Elgar Concerto, a work that I have been playing for twenty years and one which is so close to my heart. In the inspirational Andrew Davis and the RSNO's commitment, I found exactly the right partnership for this monumental work.' - Tasmin Little.
