Cuba: Rabo de Nube (Tail of a Tornado)

The Nueva Cancin or New Song, is one of the most significant cultural expressions to emerge from Latin America in recent times, and yet it has never received the attention of the dissemination in this country that it merits. Intimately tied to the political and social struggles that have swept the American Continent in the past two decades, it is still only marginally known in the United States, through a handful of recordings, rare concerts, or enthusiasm of returning travelers who immediately contrast the depth and vigor of this music to the homogenized and commercial character of much of their own 'pop' culture...
